Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the best grade, Third Grade!  I am so excited to be your child’s teacher this 2023 – 2024 school year! This will be an exciting, creative, fun, and productive year!

The third grade is the transition grade from primary (learning to read) to intermediate (reading to learn) and is also the pivotal grade that predicts your child's academic success later in life. They will develop critical thinking and analytical skills, and problem-solve while providing an explanation to show their understanding. Third grade is also a challenging grade because it requires students to be independent and responsible for their learning.

It is my goal to nurture my students’ talents/ gifts, provide an exciting and engaging learning experience, guide and hold them accountable for their learning, and motivate them so that they may reach their highest potential.

I expect my students to put forth their best effort, work cooperatively with their peers, respect others, and take ownership of their actions and learning. I want my students to have a lifelong love of learning, conquer challenges, and prosper in all areas of their life.

There are a few things I would like to share about myself. I have a strong child development background and have taught preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade, and special education in the private school and charter school sectors. I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from California State University at Dominguez Hills and a Master of Arts degree in Literacy and Language Arts from the School of Education at Loyola Marymount University. I am an active member at my church and in my community. I volunteer regularly for the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF), Black Women’s Network, and Special Needs Network.

Education is a partnership between home, school, and community. To have a successful year we must work together as a team. Please feel free to contact me with your comments and concerns at [email protected], Class Dojo, or call the school office at 310-671- 5578 EXT 222. I am excited about all that we will accomplish!
