7th Grade Objectives and Goals

In grade 7, instructional time will be based on NGSS Standards and will focus on four critical areas:

  1. Understanding Matter
  2. The Changing Earth.
  3. Earth's resources
  4. Interactions within ecosystems.
  • Students will investigate how energy flows through ecosystems, factors that affect ecosystems and the importance of biodiversity.
  • Students will discover how earth's surface is constantly changing due to movement to the tectonic plates.
  • Students will explore Earth's resources : renewable and nonrenewable.
  • Students will learn how to define, evaluate, and compare data.
  • Students will examine what matter is and how matter interacts.
  • Students will develop an understanding of scientific methods and the design engineering process through hands on inquiry driven lab investigations and projects.
